Johnson and Clayton were big in South Carolina.
Sumer Johnson and Andrew Clayton are the respective Strongwoman and Strongman Champions of Clash on the Coast 2023. The competition was held March 24-26, 2023 in Hilton Head, SC. The featured strongwoman division was U82KG. The featured strongman division was U105KG. Twelve athletes took part in both parts of the strength competition.
Johnson maintained her win by four points over second-place finisher Jodi Kennedy. Jessica Mitchell completed the women’s podium in third place. In the men’s, Clayton won by a mere half a point over Dan Hughes, while Matt McKeegan finished third.

This win is the first of Johnson’s professional career. According to Strongman Archives, Johnson has competed in three career competitions to date. Johnson previously placed fifth at the 2022 America’s Strongest Woman (ASW) and fourth place at the 2017 Arnold Amateur Strongwoman World Championships.

Conversely, Clayton’s win officially unseats former defending champion Isaac Maze. According to Strongman Archives, this win is the fourth of Clayton’s eleven-competition career. Other highlights include a win at the 2022 U105 Strongman World Championships, the 2018 Official Strongman Games (OSG) and the 2017 U105 World’s Strongest Man.
