After little La Niña, which recently came to an end, began to affect global temperatures, the monthly global mean anomalies of the lower troposphere of the UAH show another sharp decline, turning the New Hiatus from 5 years to 4 months three months extended month to 5 years 10 months this month.

The HadCRUT4 data show no warming in the 6 years 9 months May 2014 to January 2021:

It is likely that the temperature anomalies will stay below the trendline for a month or two, making the new break even longer. Forecasts for the remainder of the year suggest that the current ENSO-neutral conditions will persist through the end of the year, with the possibility of another La Niña later this year. The probability of El Niño states is estimated to be low for the time being.
