Systematic error in international temperature measurements from 1880 to 2020 causes warming to extend by 42% – watts excessive?

The globe is likely to have only warmed by 0.41 to 0.83 °C in the last 140 years.
According to a new studyWeather station data has been shown to be non-climatic and erroneously record warmer than actual temperatures, due to the steady and ongoing aging process observed almost universally in temperature measuring devices.
As a weather station's white paint or plastic ages and darkens, the gauge may absorb more solar radiation than if the gauge is bright white and new. One gauge was observed to record peak temperatures that were 0.46°C to 0.49°C warmer than gauges that were not subjected to aging over a period of just 2 to 5 years. This artificial warming is not corrected for in modern data sets and builds up over time – even if the measuring devices are cleaned or replaced every few years.
If these systematic artificial warming errors were corrected rather than ignored, GISTEMP's 140-year (1880-1990 to 2010-1920) global warming trend would decrease from the current estimate of +1.43°C to +0.83°C. a difference of 42%. The temperature drop can be even more significant – from +1.43°C to +0.41°C – if a number of conservative assumptions (described in detail in the paper) are removed.

Interestingly, when the systematically erroneous temperature data at different time intervals (2 years versus 12 to 30 years, etc.) are removed or homogenized, the global temperature trend – in fact, the long-term global warming trend – can be shown to effectively disappear depending on the time interval. This can be observed in Figure 7 below.
As this chart shows, temperature data can be homogenized or adjusted to represent almost any trend or non-trend that the chart creator intends. Data can be bent and manipulated to show strong warming, weak warming, or even no warming over the past 140 years.
Perhaps the modern version of global warming is not nearly as unprecedented or even unusual as it is made out to be.
