Bill Gates said the world needs more entrepreneurs like Elon Musk to address climate change.
“I think what Elon did to Tesla is fantastic. It is probably the single largest contribution to showing us that electric cars are part of our solution to climate change,” said CNBC’s Andrew Ross Sorkin Gates in an interview Thursday morning aired on Squawk Box. “We need a lot of Elon musk including those who are working on these super tough categories,” he said, suggesting areas like steel and cement.
The billionaire philanthropist also pointed out Musk’s carbon removal challenge, announced last month. Musk said on Twitter that he would donate $ 100 million for an award for the best carbon capture technology.
“Elon won an award for carbon sequestration, which is an amazing thing,” added Gates, who has a new book called “How to Avoid Climate Disaster”. It comes at a crucial time as global carbon dioxide emissions have soared over the past century, leading to unprecedented global warming and climate change.
“I think he should be very proud of what he did,” said Gates.
