Carrasquillo used her recent performance to rewrite the record books.
Seasoned veteran and strongwoman Inez Carrasquillo has earned a reputation as an uncanny overhead force. The athlete lived up to that strength-based fame at her last summer competition in the Pacific Northwest.
On July 8th and 9th, 2023, during the 2023 Rainier Classic (RC) in Burien, WA, Carrasquillo managed to lift a maximum log of 145.9 kilograms (321.6 pounds).. The brand is officially a world recordsurpassing Andrea Thompson’s previous mark by 5.9 kilograms (13 pounds). Thompson set the previous record of 140 kilograms (308.6 pounds) at the 2022 World Woodlifting Championships (WLLC) in October 2022. Thanks to her world record, Carrasquillo eventually took first place in the RC 2023. Because the competition did not segregate athletes by weight class, Carrasquillo’s body weight at the time of the lift is currently unknown.

Carrasquillo’s overhead press performance might be even more impressive considering the athlete has only been a strong woman in a sanctioned capacity since November 2021. According to her personal page at Open Powerlifting, the athlete was previously a powerlifter and went undefeated in her only three competition appearances in late 2010’s and late 2020.
Still, Carrasquillo seems to have taken the demands of a strong woman well. According to her Strongman Archives page, Carrasquillo now has three strongwoman wins to her name, including the 2022 Arnold Amateur Strongwoman World Championships, the 2022 Beerstone and the 2023 RC. To date, the competitor has also featured in five out of seven strongwoman appearances her career on the podium.
Given Carrasquillo’s world record in the log lift, it’s clear that the athlete has placed herself on the strong woman’s map.

Carrasquillo’s next power goal could be to win her first-ever World’s Strongest Woman (WSW) title. The athlete took third place ahead of winner Olga Liashchuk and runner-up Thompson at the 2022 edition of the famous competition. This built on a fourth-place finish for Carrasquillo in 2021.
At the time of writing, it is unclear exactly when and where WSW 2023 will take place. Recent precedents suggest the competition could be held again sometime in mid-November 2023 in Daytona Beach, Florida. By then, Carrasquillo might be more than ready to finally scale one of strongwoman’s tallest peaks.
