In a desert system in Utah, which prepares individuals for all times on Mars

Among the majestic canyons of the desert in Utah, about 7 miles from the next city, is a small research facility that is supposed to prepare life on life on Mars.

The Mars Society, a non -profit organization that leads the Mars Desert Research Station (MDRS), invited CNBC to shade one of her analog crews into a recent mission.

“MDRS is the best analog astron car environment,” said Urban Koi, who worked as a health and security officer for Crew 315.

Elon Musk, CEO and Mars lawyer from SpaceX said that his company could bring people to Mars in 2029.

The 5-person crew 315 lived for two weeks at the research station according to the same procedures as on Mars.

David Laude, who served as commander of the crew, described a typical day.

“So we all gather around a table in the upper deck and breakfast at 7 a.m.,” he said. “At around 8:00 a.m. we have our first meeting of the day when we plan the day. And in the morning we usually have an EVA of two or three people and usually another in the afternoon.”

An EVA refers to extrave -hikular activity. In NASA, Evas speak to space strips when astronauts have to leave the under pressure and have to wear space suits in order to survive in space.

“I think the most challenging thing about these analog missions is to get into a rhythm. … Although the risk is lower here, it is what to carry out to us on Mars,” said Michael Andrews, the engineer for Crew 315.
