Hurricane Helene is devastating communities across the southeastern United States as mass flooding and high winds hit Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.
The Category 4 storm had killed at least 52 people as of Saturday, according to the Associated Press. Millions more people are without power and some have been forced from their homes as trees are ripped from their roots and electricity destroys people's property.
Evacuations began before the storm made landfall and have continued since then.
President Joe Biden said he and Vice President Kamala Harris are committed to providing all necessary resources to support the recovery.
“As we move toward recovery efforts, we will ensure that no resources are spared to ensure that families, businesses, schools, hospitals and entire communities can quickly begin rebuilding,” he said Saturday.
