How Annie Thorisdottir overcomes doubts about returning to particular person CrossFit competitors

2011 and 2012 CrossFit Games winner Annie Thorisdottir has returned to individual CrossFit competition and is ready to give another try at becoming FIttest Women on Earth®. Thorisdottir spoke as a guest on the Talking Elite Fitness Podcast where she discussed the 2023 season and the mental aspect of the competition. Thorisdottir spoke about overcoming self-doubt and finding ways to bet on yourself.

“Do I have the guts to bet on myself and know what the worst that can happen is? And knowing that if that makes sense, it’s just worth the risk.”

The following Instagram clip was shared by Thorisdottir and the podcast account, highlighting this news. Listen:

Those who don’t compete can find inspiration in the physique and incredible fitness achievements of two-time Fittest Women on Earth®. Still, the Icelandic legend expressed that, like everyone else’s, her confidence may not always be there when it’s needed.

“We all have self-doubt and things we struggle with, but it’s about knowing that they’re just thoughts that come to mind. It does not change anything.”

“Iceland Annie” has competed in the CrossFit Games since she first qualified in 2009. She didn’t finish that year, but a year later she finished second behind Kristan Clever.

After winning her two titles in 2011 and 2012, Thorisdottir missed the 2013 games. She returned in 2014 and again finished second to then-world champion Camille Leblanc-Bazinet. Thorisdottir competed every year from 2015 to 2019. Her best finish during that time was third place in 2017 for six-time Fittest Woman on Earth® Tia-Clair Toomey.

Thorisdottir gave up the 2020 games to become a mother but came back in 2021 and finished third again. From the 2022 games, she moved to the Teams division and finished fourth overall with Team CrossFit Reykjavik. Next, she will compete in the 2023 semifinals and qualify for the 2023 CrossFit Games being held August 1-6, 2023 at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, WI.
