“Germany’s power system is absolutely operational” – Watts Up With That?

Essay by Eric Worrall

“Operationally” in the sense that high costs and annual bottlenecks in winter paralyze the German economy.

German government fails in attempt to verify Trump's facts on green energy debacle

Germany sought to defend its disastrous energy policies in a fact-checking response to former President Donald Trump, who cited Berlin as a warning to the American public in a debate with Vice President Kamala Harris on Tuesday.

Trump urged US voters to reject the green agenda favored by the Democrats and Harris, pointing out that even Germany had to reverse its transition to energy policy, which is evidence of the foolhardy nature of the green agenda.

“They believe in things that the American people don't believe in,” Trump said to Harris. “They believe in things like: We're not going to do fracking. We're not going to take fossil fuels,” referring to her longstanding opposition to fracking, a position she has tried to change her mind on.

“Germany tried that, and within a year they went back to building normal power plants,” Trump continued. “We're not ready for that.”

It's hard to know where to start. The German political class is insane if they really believe that their achievements in the field of green energy are a desirable success.

Volkswagen is considering closing its first German car plant. But it's not just the workers who are worried.

FRANKFURT (AP) – For the first time in the German automaker's 87-year history, Volkswagen is considering closing some factories in its home country, saying otherwise the company would not be able to meet its cost-cutting targets, which are necessary to maintain its competitiveness.

Higher costs outweighed modest sales increase of 1.6%which reached 158.8 billion euros, but was held back by weak demand. Blume called it “a solid performance” in a “challenging environment.” Volkswagen's luxury brands, which include Porsche, Audi and Lamborghini, are outselling VW models.

From January this year;

I suspect that Germany is still suffering the consequences of President Trump's humiliation of the green political class in 2018, when he correctly predicted that Germany's dependence on Russian gas and lack of development of domestic fossil fuel resources would endanger the country's energy security.

The German political class laughed at Trump back then. The climate-obsessed German bureaucrats with their state-protected incomes are still trying to laugh about it. But no German who has to earn his living in the real economy is laughing.

If Germany continues with its green madness, the entire nation – with the exception of the privileged bureaucrats and politicians, of course – will reach the level of Venezuelan national poverty or even worse.

Some Germans are trying to fight back. Parties like the AfD did very well in the last election, although this probably had more to do with their immigration policies than their climate policies. However, the AfD also strongly opposes climate action, which seems to make it Germany's best hope for ending the disaster that is German energy policy.

As for the dog-eating comment, as far as I know, Trump has never accused Germans of eating their dogs.

But in Germany, eating dogs in times of need has a long cultural tradition. Until 1985, i.e. before anyone could remember, restaurants in Munich openly served dog meat from state suppliers.

Today we see that millions of Germans, an estimated 45% of Germans, are currently suffering from energy poverty and financial difficulties due to the failed German green energy policy. And now it seems likely that the impending large-scale layoffs will only increase the suffering of the German population.

Given this level of desperation, anything seems possible.
