Look who just crawled out of the wood!
Several of the world’s leading scientists plan to set up an independent expert group this week to advise, warn and criticize global politicians on the climate and natural crisis.
The new body was inspired by Independent Sage – the gathering of British academics who have held British ministers and officials accountable for their lack of transparency and the mishandling of the Covid pandemic.
The Climate Crisis Advisory Group, consisting of 14 experts from 10 nations and all continents, has set itself the goal of achieving greater international reach and providing the global public with regular analyzes of efforts to deal with the global warming and biodiversity crisis.
Led by former UK Senior Scientific Advisor Sir David King, the new group will post monthly updates on the state of the global environment at meetings open to the media and the public. These online meetings are led by the BBC presenter Ade Adepitan.
“We hope that by providing expertise directly, we will feed into the decision-making process of policy makers and the financial sector and how they invest in our future,” King told the Observer. “We will not only say ‘This is the state of the global climate,’ but what the global response of governments and corporations should be… What we do in the next five years will determine the future of humanity for the next millennium. “.”
The experts – including Fatih Birol, the head of the International Energy Agency, and Johan Rockström, the director of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research – also want to give statements and, in response to inquiries from journalists about breaking news, such as statements by the G7, reports from the Intergovernmental Committee on Climate Change , new targets from national governments, action by large companies, and geoengineering proposals such as re-freezing the Arctic.

Contrary to the Guardian’s false claims, the Independent Sage was nothing more than a joke that none other than the Guardian took seriously (although some news outlets mistook what they said for reality, which was undoubtedly King’s real aim.) When Guido revealed at the time, Independent Sage consisted entirely of real communists, Labor Party donors, activists, Corbynistas, “anti-Zionists”, Brexit conspiracy theorists and even a former Greek socialist MP. Susan Michie, for example, was a member of the British Communist Party for 40 years, a Corbyn donor, wife of Corbyn SpAd Andrew Murray and mother of Labor complaints officer Laura Murray). Their only intention was to publish anti-government propaganda.
King himself was actively involved in the campaign against the government and Brexit.
He was also, of course, the clown who made us believe that due to global warming, we would all have to live in Antarctica by the end of the century.
On the same environmental selection committee in 2004, he also made several other equally ridiculous claims:
- The ice at the South Pole is now 40% as thick as it was before.
- The Gulf Stream could shut down and lead Europe into a mini ice age
- Hydrogen-powered cars would experience massive market penetration within 10 to 15 years
And in 2014, before another special committee, he made the incredible claim that Hurricane Sandy was the first hurricane to hit that far in North America, a school mistake that a 2-minute Google would have made him absurd. And it was King, you may recall, who advised Tony Blair to promote diesel cars.
Christopher Booker revealed in his book. “The Real Global Warming Disaster”, as King attended a climate seminar in Moscow in 2004 and promptly tried to ban half of the speakers because they did not share his alarming stance. When that failed, he tried to disrupt their speeches. When a scientist, the malaria expert Paul Reiter, was finally challenged on a certain topic, King, who seemed unable to give an answer, simply left the room with his delegation.
This is the man who now thinks he has the right to advise us on climate change!
One final point: why the hell is a BBC presenter getting involved in this overtly political program?
