The shares of China's BYD gathered on Tuesday after the company announced a new technology that claims that it can (EV) calculate almost as quickly as it is necessary to fill a petrol car.

BYDS listed stocks listed in Hong Kong, shortly after the open, rose openly by more than 6% and stood a new 52-week high. The share, in which the last thing was lasted by 2.5% higher, rose by over 51%.

BYDS Shenzenkartie course from BYD rose over 2%on Tuesday morning before collecting some of his profits.

Shortly after BYD has unveiled a new “Super E platform” technology, which, according to information on top speeds of 1,000 kilowatts, will be able. The EV giant and Tesla According to rivals, cars that use the technology make it possible to reach 400 kilometers (approximately 249 miles) with only 5 minutes of load.

CNBC could not check these claims independently.

In contrast, the latest Supercharger from Tesla offer a loading rate of up to 500 kilowatts and can add up to 270 kilometers in 15 minutes. The German group of the Mercedes-Benz Group said last week that the all-electric CLA would be able to charge up to 325 kilometers within 10 minutes.

“The ultimate solution is to recharge your shop as quickly as a petrol car,” said Wang Chuanfu, Chairman and President of BYD, according to a press release at the start event.

The breakthrough seems to reduce the core of the range, one of the most important embroidery points that prevent consumers from switching to an eV. Range fear refers to fears that an electric car battery will no longer come on the market before the passenger reaches the goal.

Xing Lei, an independent car analyst in China, described the technological advances of the new BYD battery platform as “from this word” and as a “heartbreaking” development for its foreign competitors.

“Especially when the focus of everyone seems to turn to the Smartification, BYD comes back and says: No, no, we have not yet finished electrification,” said Lei in a LinkedIn post.

BYD said his Han-L limousine and the Tang L SUV both officially started the new “Super E platform” with both electric vehicles in China before the sale. The company added that it would build more than 4,000 ultra -fast loading piles or units throughout China to meet the new platform.

BYD has not yet specified how much it will spend on the construction of the new facilities, even when the ultra -fast loading posts are available for consumers.

At the beginning of the month, BYD started a sale of his Hong Kong shares to collect up to 5.2 billion US dollars, Reuters reported, whereby the proceeds are used for investing in research and development. At that time, the company did not answer a request for comments.

A change in loading behavior?

According to the environmental defense fund, the average range for electric vehicles in the USA is almost 300 miles (or 483 kilometers).

“Specier Lading is definitely a plus, but it is behind the overall battery area and the convenience of loading connections as priorities for EV owners,” said Michael Dunne, founder and CEO of Dunne Insights, compared to CNBC via e -Mail.

“BYD becomes much more capable in telling its technological breakthrough stories. A traditional engineering company has added an important marketing dimension to its competitive arsenal.”

Dunne said the fast platform from BYD could lead to a change in the behavior of EV owners.

“Only a few EV owners calculate their car from zero to the full battery charge,” said Dunne.

“Instead, they tend to start with our telephones. The 5 -minute cargo could change this behavior,” he added.

Companies have followed various approaches to combat the range of consumers, e.g. B. Fuel tanks for charging the battery or building a network of battery exchange stations with which the drivers of the participating vehicles can get a fully charged battery in just a few minutes.

In fact, the Chinese electric car company Nio announced a strategic partnership with the contemporary amperex technology of the battery giant on Tuesday.

According to a press release, the two companies will create the largest and most advanced battery -Swaping -Service -Network for Passenger Vehicles, in which no time was specified.

CATL also invests a total of 2.5 billion yuan (350 million US dollars) in the NIO stream unit, the press release says.
