Bottlenecks, particular opening instances in hype

NintendoThe flagship -Switch 2, the successor of one of its most popular consoles, was sold on Thursday with excitement and hype, by fans who led during opening hours for Special Store and in some markets.

The Japanese gaming giant hopes that the console can contribute to maintaining a monster rally in its stocks, which has increased almost five times since the original switch was published in March 2017.

Nintendo also hopes that the Switch 2 with the success of the original switch, which has sold more than 152 million units, can correspond to the second highest selling device in the history of the company, behind the Nintendo DS.

And according to analysts, the current demand looks great.

“Today is the biggest console introduction of all time. As expected, as expected, Nintendo fans are available who check the equity orders in their local shops or are eagerly waiting for the deliveries,” said George Jijishvili, Senior Principal Analyst at the OMDIA consulting company, to CNBC via e -Mail.

The popularity of the switch is widely attributed to its innovative portable design, which merged with mobile games with mobile games. People were able to play the game on their television, then attach the controllers to the display of the console and take it with them.

Bottlenecks and late business openings

Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa said in April that 2.2 million people in Japan had entered the lottery to buy Switch 2 on the starting day.

Furukawa said it was “beyond” Nintendo's expectations and is more than the company can deliver on Thursday.

It is expected that the bottlenecks in Japan will remain.

“The demand in Japan for Switch 2 is actually Sky High, maybe higher than somewhere else,” Serkan Toto, CEO of Tokyo -based Games Consultancy Kantan Games, told CNBC.

“You cannot go to a shop in Japan to pick up a Switch 2 without pre -order, and this will not change in the next few weeks and months.”

In China, the large online dealer JD.com announced that he had received 400,000 reservations for the console that started shipping on Thursday. Not everyone who reserves a console buys one in the end.

In the USA, Best Buy opened some shops across the country for purchases in business on Thursday (or late Wednesday, depending on the time zone). Walmart said it opened at midnight ET online and in the shop at Supercenter at 6 a.m. The Walmart website currently shows the console as sold out.

There seems to be more availability in Great Britain. Amazon's UK page shows Switch 2 available for delivery on Friday. Other retailers such as Currys and Toy Store Smyth's also seem to have it in stock.

“In view of the pent -up demand, a sale on the starting day was inevitable. However, we believe that Nintendo is well prepared in the following weeks and expects the offer to be stabilized,” said Jijishvili from Omdiia.

Last month, Nintendo said that it would sell 15 million units of the Switch 2 units in the financial year in the financial year until March 2026. However, analysts said this was conservative.

Kantan Games' Toto said he predicted a turnover of 20 million units in the first year. Omdia said it would expect sales of 14.4 million switch 2 consoles in 2025 alone, which is ahead of the debut year of the original switch.
