President Joe Biden will hold a press conference at NATO headquarters in Belgium during his first personal summit with the military alliance since taking office as Commander in Chief.
Biden’s press spokesman, scheduled for 6:50 p.m. Brussels time, follows a series of meetings with the heads of state of the member states, including Turkish President Recep Erdogan and the leaders of the Baltic states, according to the White House.
Biden is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Geneva on Wednesday.
The jam-packed European tour, Biden’s first overseas trip as President, also included meetings with the affluent Seven Nations group who gathered in Britain over the weekend.
The president made clear his intention to repair America’s ties with key European allies that he believed were frayed by his predecessor, former President Donald Trump.
“The lack of participation in the past and full commitment has been clearly noticed not only by the leaders of these countries, but also by the people of the G-7,” Biden said at a press conference in Cornwall on Sunday.
“America is back in business of leading the world alongside nations that share our deepest values,” he said.
Early Monday, Biden also touched the base with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, took part in a summit with the group of 30 European and North American countries and took a “family photo” with the other leaders, according to the White House schedule.
