Al Gore complains loudly through the UN local weather summit – don't you care?

Former Vice President Al Gore railed against “polluters” and urged people to listen to scientists on climate change during a speech at the UN climate conference in Baku, Azerbaijan.

The COP29 summit, which began on Monday, already featured speakers proposing taxes on the meat and dairy industries as well as “climate finance” initiatives for less developed countries. During his address at the conference, Gore claimed that climate scientists' predictions had proven to be “completely correct.”

“The fact that the scientists who predicted all this decades ago have been proven completely correct should make the rest of us pay more attention to what they are telling us now!” Gore told the crowd vehemently and sparked cheers and applause from those present. “Do we listen to the polluters who don’t want to do anything meaningful that would reduce fossil fuels, or do we listen to the scientists who tell us what we need to do?” (RELATED: UN Summit Speaker Claims 'Naming Extreme Heat Events' Will Help Combat Climate Change)

“This was a very extreme drought in China in the middle of this year, and what is happening in the Amazon, the Rio Solimões, the Rio Negro, is the worst drought ever in the Amazon – 90% of the river in Colombia is affected. “If the water is gone, Ecuador will lose its hydroelectric power,” Gore continued. “In Namibia and also in Zimbabwe they are now killing cattle – wild animals to feed hungry people. How long will we allow the situation to get worse before we decide to act?! I’m sorry, I push my own buttons these days.”

Gore claimed that 30 million tons of ice melted in Greenland in the hour he spoke and warned that the melting ice could have catastrophic consequences for the oceans.

“This is fresh water that flows from Greenland to the North Atlantic, where an important part of the ocean current circulation system is involved. It could be disrupted,” he said. “Some scientists disagree, but they are increasingly sounding the alarm.” (Click here to watch the Daily Caller documentary “Anarchy U.”)

“And if you look at the bottom line of this peer-reviewed study – these scientists say in this peer-reviewed study, 'We estimate a mid-century collapse.' What?! What?!” Gore continued. “Some core elements of our entire Earth ecosystem are at risk. And what do we do? Just talk, talk, don't make much progress. I'm getting excited here again, so I'm going to try to calm myself down .”

The event in Azerbaijan will be attended by several officials from the Biden administration, which notably distanced itself from a major emissions initiative at the event, including Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm, White House climate adviser John Podesta and Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack. Podesta told conference attendees during a speech on Monday that the United States would remain involved in combating climate change despite the election of former President Donald Trump, Bloomberg reported.
