Journal Nature refutes PIK’s imaginative science {that a} hotter Arctic causes excessive chilly snaps – what is the level?

The polar vortex theory strikes: The claim that a warm Arctic is behind the brutally cold winter conditions in the mid-latitudes, a nature study shows that it is scientifically unfounded.
Hat-tip: The cold sun.
Now that Europe and North America are hit by unusually severe winter weather that climate alarmists predicted 20 years ago would be a thing of the past, alarmists are desperate for an explanation to escape the embarrassment.
PIK science suggests that heat creates cold
They came up with the explanation for the polar vortex: the bitter cold we are now experiencing in the mid-latitudes is actually due to the warmer Arctic, they say. And this is devastating the jet stream, which in turn causes cold arctic explosions to plunge deep into the mid-latitudes. Yes, cold winters are exactly what we should expect in a rapidly warming world!
Levermann and Rahmstorf
For example, the two media front men Anders Levermann and Stefan Rahmstorf from the Potsdam Climate Institute (PIK) told this to the ever gullible German media such as Bild and Spiegel. However, many suspect that it is a scientific scam designed to deceive the public and hide the fact that their global warming predictions are, in fact, blatant errors.
Journal Nature refutes the imaginative PIK declaration
For example, a recent paper in Nature entitled “Weakening Evidence for the Effects of Mid-latitude Arctic Warming” refuted by Blackport et al. This highly imaginative hypothesis, which was put forward by the two PIK scientists, was written.
The Nature article writes:
Jennifer Francis, whose pioneering work indicated that the warming of the Arctic resulted in a Wavier jet stream, predicted in 2014 that “within a few years, if the Arctic continues to strengthen, we will have enough data to know whether we are right or not ”6.
So, six years later, what has changed? The arctic strengthening and sea ice loss have actually continued (Fig. 1). However, predictions of a more negative arctic oscillation, a Wavier jet stream, colder winters in mid-latitudes or particularly in Eurasia and more frequent and / or widespread cold extremes have not become a reality (Fig. 1).
The cold waves have decreased
Other experts have also noticed what PIK is doing here. Dr. Roy Spencer wrote on his blog in 2019 that the cold spells in the US have receded, which contradicts the PIK:
“The trend has been declining significantly over the past 40 years (since 1979). This is the earliest time we have reliable measurements of Arctic sea ice with satellite microwave radiometers (my specialty),” noted Spencer.
“Made to fit where they don’t fit”
In response to Rahmstorf’s assertion that arctic heat creates extreme cold, the Swiss veteran meteorologist Jörg Kachelmann tweeted directly:
You never know what is more terrible and ruthless, all the right nuts that see a winter weather situation as an argument against the climate crisis, or the desperately unscientific @rahmstorf, which now ascribes an ordinary winter weather situation to climate change. “
Kachelmann adds to Rahmstorf’s approach:
No, there is hardly any science in history.
Things are made to fit where they don’t. As always.”
The mirror’s “rubbish”
Unfortunately, the polar vortex story has effectively betrayed gullible media journalists like those in Spiegel. They too try to hide their embarrassment at having been plagued by the human-made disaster fraud of global warming for the past three decades. Kachelmannwetter.com continues to tweet:
The polar vortex is doing very well.
But because hardly anyone will check this, because nobody knows what it is and what it should look like, @derspiegel throws
throws the principles of editorial control overboard and writes junk. “
But don’t expect the media to admit they’ve been scammed anytime soon. It is as if a famous scientist once said, “Science advances one funeral after another.”
It will take a while longer.
