David Reger, founder and CEO of the Neura robotics based in Metzingen, builds Humanoid robot and a call with a hint of déjà vu. In the German press, he is sometimes referred to as the “young Elon -Muschus”.
It is a nickname controller, despite all the controversy around the richest man in the world. “It is positive for me, not a negative,” he said in an interview about TNW. “I respect how Musk builds companies, how successful he is, how fearless he is to continue things.”
Musk's politics continues, Reger continues, is not the focus of his admiration. “I only think about technological progress and how I can move it on and faster, and I admire musk for it.”
Like Musk, has a lively speed in mind. Nura was founded in 2019 and quickly developed into one of the best-financed robotics startups in Europe with over 600 employees. Several robots are already commercialized, including A Robotic For manufacture and a charge Robot. And in the next month, the company will present the third generation of the 4NE-1 robot, from which it will claim that it will be the most progressive humanoid in the world.
4NE-1 what the name already says-is a robot that was built for everyone. The human bot is designed in such a way that it is equally able to fold your laundry at home because it stacks boxes in a warehouse.

The current version of 4NE-1 is 180 cm in size, taps the scale at around 80 kg and can wear objects with a weight of up to 15 kg. With a top speed of 3 km/h, however, it is a little slow coach. The performance will improve in the third generation – we have to wait to find out.
What distinguishes the humanoid according to controller are his cognitive skills. “It can touch, think and react in a similar way to people,” he said.
This is thanks to a network of sensors and cameras that are embedded throughout the body. These feed real-time data in a AI system that interprets the surroundings and makes decisions with split seconds.
The third generation of 4NE-1 will have more of these sensors than other humanoids, according to Reger enables better data acquisition and closing the loop between virtual and physical worlds.
While Reger is confident that Neura builds up the best humanoid, the competition will be violent. There are hundreds of companies that develop human robots worldwide. The company is currently developing optimus, also known as “Tesla Bot”.
Optimus is not unlike Neuras 4NE-1. With 173 cm and a weight of 57 kg, it is also designed as a multi -purpose. According to a current washing systems, water systems and vacuum, it can fold Demo video. Tesla wants to produce between 5,000 and 12,000 Optimus units this year.
“I see musk as my only competitor in this segment,” said Reger.
Although Reger Muschus admires, he is careful with the effects that his recent antics could have on robotics. He fears that the political controversy could return the industry.
“In order for humanoids in the houses and people to be accepted, everything is trusted,” said Reger. “So he should be careful with what he is doing.”
