A Slack outage on the first Monday in 2021 will result in disruption for remote workers who rely on the platform to message and video chat with colleagues. It was especially important during the Covid pandemic.

Slack stocks fell about 0.7% in the late morning of Monday’s trading.

In September 2019, the stock fell 14% after the quarterly earnings report found Slack posted a $ 8.2 million revenue decline due to loans to customers following service level disruptions. Credits help companies cover future bills.

Salesforce announced on December 1 that it was buying Slack for over $ 27 billion.

Slack’s status dashboard indicated there were issues with messaging and connections, but did not indicate what caused the issues or when the chat should get back to normal. The outage apparently began around 10 p.m. ET.

In an update on the outage at 11:20 am CET, Slack said, “We are continuing to investigate connectivity issues for customers and have updated the incident on our side to reflect an outage in service. All hands on deck are investigating further at our end. “
