While the world and the climate change with it, one thing has remained the same for decades – Michael Mann’s commitment to the fight against climate war.

Mann began studying quantum mechanics as a student at the University of California at Berkeley, majoring in physics and applied mathematics. When he first started as a PhD student at Yale University, Mann said he was “lured away” by the physics department because young scientists still had the opportunity to make “significant contributions” to the forefront of climate studies.

Mann said he did not want to accuse fossil fuel workers of participating in the “climate war”. Instead, he believes that there are few company CEOs who act as “bad actors” and “make cynical decisions knowing the devastating impact they would have on the climate.”

According to Nye, he and Mann are often asked two frequently asked questions: “What can I do about climate change?” And “What can be done to convince someone who denies a climate?”
Nye calls this the $ 10 trillion questions because Climate deniers are so “engraved” in their beliefswhich only makes it harder to convince them of what science is suggesting.
The only definitive way to see significant action to prevent climate change, Nye says, is to simply wait for deniers and contrarians to “age”.
“There is an old saying, “Science always conducts a funeral”. Nye said: “But it’s not going fast enough.”

There have been cases where scientists have convinced their colleagues to provide evidence to support their theories rather than waiting for their opponents to die.
My favorite example, Barry Marshall and Robin Warren, have overcome resistance to their theory. Stomach ulcers are caused by a bacterial infection by providing evidence to back up their claim – they cultured and proving the slow growing, previously unknown bacteria responsible for gastric ulcers exist, and successfully healed ulcers with antibiotics.
Einstein also struggled to convince his colleagues that space and time are changeable until Einstein received a telegram from British scientists who had been on an expedition to an island off the west coast of Africa to observe a total solar eclipse. The purpose of the expedition was to test Einstein’s prediction that stars that appeared near the sun during the solar eclipse would be easily out of position because the starlight floating near the sun would be bent by the sun’s gravity.
If Mann and Nye presented evidence that global warming was a significant problem, potentially more people would accept their claim that we are currently in a climate crisis.
