Good news from Bloomberg:

Norway’s highest court rejected an attempt by climate activists to stop oil production in the Arctic by Western Europe’s largest oil-producing nation.

The Nordic government rejected a lawsuit filed by environmental groups in the country’s Supreme Court that ruled Tuesday that the authorities had acted lawfully by granting exploration licenses to companies such as Equinor ASA, Aker BP ASA and Lundin Petroleum AB in the Barents Sea.

Greenpeace and Nature and Youth, a local environmental organization, argued in the lawsuit that licensing in the Arctic Barents Sea in 2016 violated the Norwegian Constitution and its obligations under the Paris Agreement.

It is, of course, good news that the world will have more oil reserves if exploration is successful.

But I find it a bit ironic because we are constantly being told how “green” Norway is. After all, they are getting rid of all their gasoline cars and building wind farms in the North Sea (with the help of oil money, of course).

But when it comes to gasoline dollars, it all goes out the window!
